because God's ways are often uncomprehensible.

after really reading up on his less-than-normal-childhood to world-fame-filled history, i finally learned about the person who's music i first remembered as i child. not studying his life like a psychologist, but mere facts are good enough for me to choose to believe him. i do. i believe he never was a child molester to begin with, i believe that he never intended to bleach his skin white for no purpose, i believe he loved his children like any father would and i believed that all he wanted was to relive a childhood he never had.

i never realized that throughout my sixteen years of living so far, i always happen to have a sudden addiction to one or two of his pieces of art. it's not hard to believe as people always pay tribute to him on the countless dance and music competitions i fanatically watch, even the current artists that follow his style. and somehow, the first one that comes to mind is always Rain.

to create works of art that would last generations, to produce signature styles that would be followed for years.. to come to think that many of the artists that i listen to today, actually were influenced by him, be it minimally or heavily. with all his videos playing on every tv channel, it slowly revealed to me, where the little details that my favourite artists today accentuate came from. i thank him because he literally made the music and dance industry that i give never ending respect to until this day.

never really had posters of him or screamed when PYT played in the car, but he did leave quite a mark in my childhood. and through the artists that influence me, he has influenced me as well.

I'm just like anyone. I cut and I bleed. And I embarrass easily.

a divine soul i pray tonight,
that you rest in peace, great man.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

you really never know what it's like being in people's shoes, do you? please, J. you're turning fifteen already. it's really time you grow up. 'whatever' shouldn't be your most frequently used word anymore in your dictionary. just one day, one day, mark my words you will get it back if you don't learn.

*lets out deep sigh*
God what else am i to do?
in the past few days, i have definitely realized that stating she's not of good morality doesn't put me as a person with that much great moral values either. somehow, i have forgotten that many a times, my actions do influence the things that she says, and sometimes, the way she reacts to things.

dear Lord,
grant me strength, patience, and ability to understand. tolerate.
hold my hand and help me hold hers.

i don't rush the day she will wake up from all these immature acts, but i do hope that as this period of selfish adolescence extends longer, her wake up call will be more harsh, more painful, and of course more worthy. and when that day comes dear God, i pray that i too will change my views and opinions towards her and stand by her side, helping her whenever i can. change me as You change her.

ST JOHNS' DEBATE TEAM STILL ROCKS, DOOD.
don't really care what the judges have to say anymore.
because well.. would you consider it entirely based on judging?

it was pretty much, the most heated debate i've witnessed in my life. Ritesh scares me more and more. the other present debators frm WMelawati and Ayer Panas today made it all fun :) too bad we couldn't join you guys for the after-debate hangout! lain kali yeh, Ain. ;D

--------------------------------------------------------------------

it's contradictory, how you and i know that i am a person who thinks way too far than the norm but still end up with the true conclusion that i still sometimes don't see things at the bigger scale, and end up creating some petty mess. sometimes my eyes get tired of focusing on the big picture and end up looking at the small things instead. maybe i just need to be reminded from time to time of why we are choosing to do this together, for your good and definitely for my own good as well.

i think i'm fine now.
i really do. :)

if i ever were to be not fine again, i hope you know that PMS gets to me more often than it gets any other girl you will ever know. tolerate me lah yeh? :D and i kinda rock for getting you teary and emotional, don't i? ;p well, gay or not, rich or not, annoying or not, one thing i'm very sure of, until today is...

yes i do :)

i love you, my ex-boyfriend/used-to-be frienemy/best friend/long time good friend/annoying friend/neighbourhood friend/gay friend/one-day-will-be-again boyfriend. :)

because it's very much worth it.

The second speaker, Wong Ju Yi
.

Incredible. A word to describe you. An emotional sensitive person like you could just bang the opponent with just words. You're indeed awesome. Cue cards are just in shorthands and points form, but you expressed it in the most convincing way you could. Besides that, you're indeed the best Points of Information member I could find. I didn't expect we could POI people at the same time.

-my part time superhero :)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

my dear ZhengYi,

you may be one of the most annoying people on my lifelist, but you have as well, brought so much ease into my debate work and forced me deal with situations that i wanted to run away from. you made me face reality and reminded me to keep my head up strong and fulfill the duty as the leader of the team. the fact that in the past week, i broke, i tore apart, i cracked in every way possible and yet to be still called incredible and awesome, touches me waaaay deep. i hope you don't blame yourself at all with how the results of the debate went; because in my eyes, we are the real winners, even you. from the pits of my heart, i am very proud of you. :)

not to forget, Khadijah!

let me tell you... i cannot tell you how much more amazed i am at your level as a first timer without any experience. it puts me to shame because i've witnessed debate competitions for two years and only dared to participate in my third year. during our last debate, the minute you took your seat, i just went 'YES... thats my girl.' because you were that good. brilliantly poised, professional and smart. whether you stay in SV next year or not, i hope you continue participating in debates. because you have what it takes, khadijah. believe me, you do. ;)

Rachel Khoo.

the support and strength you provided the three of us from day one of practice inevitably showed how much commitment you have towards the team, eventhough you were just a reserved reserve. YOU have what it takes my friend. the wit, the brain and the skills. i know you won't disappoint. :)

and next year, i'm going to sit in the sideseats again, like how i always had, supporting all of you future SVian debaters, whoever you are. its time tol go all the way baby. no more social stereotyped winners. this time, they will realize who are the debaters with the real potential. it's going to be all of you.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

i cannot stop thinking of my final reply speech, as i channelled my inner Zen and tried to pull it off as effortlessly as i could, preparing the cue cards only during quarantine time instead of the day before. i kept recalling how i had once seen her debate two years ago; with such fluidity, sharpness and ease. judge's commentary feedback made me smile to my ears; ' you are very very good. and you're reply speech was PERFECT.'

thank you Zen,
for being my inspiration :)

i never saw myself as a good enough debater because when you compare me with the essential pros, i really am not. so to be chosen as best speaker was a good happy factor. also, the fact that we only lost to CBN by 1-2 points according to the judges, made it even clearer for me. technically they won, but we all knew who the real winners were kann? ;) it was the same case like yours lah, Ezen. but we weren't upset lah because we already saw it coming.

thank you to the teachers who have prayed for us and kept our spirits high :)
thank you Edna and Pavitira also, for listening to all my moans and groans!

last but not least,
the biggest thank you goes to Mr Cher.

for being so completely immersed and committed, sometimes to a point of driving us haywire. for providing such substance to our texts, without you we honestly would not have put up such a fight with the CBNners. basically, for being such an amazing support system to the whole team, it is an honour to have someone like you guide us throughout this unforgettable process. the times i got really angry and upset with your decisions, have now made me realize that if it were not for your decisions, we wouldn't be this content and satisfied with our final debate. you make us, the real winners. so thank you. thank you so. the very. much.

definitely a knowledge well gained,
and not worth missing. :)

happy father's day S2
Nights in the hospital alone are scary, daddy. Wished you were here with me instead.
Or rather, I was there with you, wherever you are.

i remember having a dream not too long ago that you were alive. you walked through the empty road and in all of our minds, your presence seemed like a divine intervention. you were with us for three days. and then you were gone. those three days felt like three years. you were happy, laughing and as William as you always are. you were so happy, and we were so happy.

i wish we could celebrate, like how we always did.
i wish for just one more day with you.
remember the paper necktie i made for you two years ago?
and how you wore it over your big yellow t-shirt everywhere? DUDE.

i still love you.

Anyone Else But You- The Moldy Peaches

June 19, 2009

because teachers are enlightening. some, not.

'you are a complete natural. you should definitely go into the stream of hosting and MC-ing events. you'll go far, no doubt'

its definitely great to earn such compliments from great teachers that i consider, have seen alot of people who can do better than i did today. even better, when the past week has been like hell hole and tears for me. still, i consider it an honour to be able to host an event ( with Tharmen ) for representatives from Commonwealth, eventhough the expected number of representatives turned out to be a single digit instead of 80.

a smile that only lasted a while; baju courtesy of Sherlina

we all knew the teachers were put under alot of pressure to present a good, if not, outstanding, wholesome image of our humble school. but it frustrated me to extensive heights when the stress they were under affected many students. or in my own words, victims. appalling, the many times i saw with my own eyes, students getting free banging for no real reason.

i'd like to believe that many, MANY students have put in alot of effort as well into making the library, SAL room, classrooms look better. ESPECIALLY THE LIBRARY, OH MAGNESIUM. i salute all of you librarians and other volunteers who helped out. and, i don't appreciate many teachers who obnoxiously claimed that they were doing all the work and just trying to handle the situation profesionally. especially that whiny, annoyingly loud one.

i'm sorry but screaming at your students every fifteen minutes?
even when it wasn't practically their fault?
not acceptable, lady.

on a happier note *lets out good sigh*,
i've never received such a sincere apology from someone whom i respect so much before. it just goes to show that i have every more reason of admiring and thinking highly of you, because you represent the ideal person who has top notch noble values, intellectual gifts of wisdom, extensive levels of comprehension for people but still realizes one's own mistakes and admits it like a true brave heart.

but really lah,
it wasn't all your fault. i know i should have been more responsible as someone who was put in charge. i hope it comes as lesson to me, as well. i only wish more people will grow up to be like you, namely myself.

thank you, great teacher.
i will never forget this moment, ever, as a part of my high school life in Seksyen 5 Wangsa Maju. :)

June 17, 2009

because i'm tired. so very tired.

on the other hand, my AFS interview went well, though. Yap's belly dancing made me laugh and TeckJia guessing during charades was the best. who would've ever guessed his word would be 'condom'.

June 15, 2009

DEBATE IS SO *BLEEP* TIRING
i can't read all this crap anymore. let me just do this like a normal secondary student would, please. there is no need for us to do it at a university level. BECAUSE WE'RE NOT.

i feel bad the most, for Khadijah, the fresh newbie debator. to be honest, this is not how debate was like in the past years. if it was, you know i wouldn't have followed it faithfully. IT WAS NEVER THIS BRAIN-COMPLICATING AND STRESSFUL. it used to be mainly in the good name of fun and competition but now it has turned into a psychotic, just-want-to-strive-and-win massacre.

look at how far Ezen's team went.
i'm not implicating that they didn't have to work hard, but merely stating that they didn't have to go this extensive level of commitment and brain-cracking even with a busy week ahead. and i actually saw them have fun and ventured into their fun. sumpah doh, I FEEL LIKE JUST QUITTING DEBATE

and here i go, the big talker,
back to reading more too-deep-and-UNunderstandable facts and what not to write my speech. because i got myself into it and was put in charge as the leader. maybe i shouldn't have been elected the leader, judging from the fact that i'm completely demoralized easily and refuse to join group discussions that will result in profanic replies like 'i am not confident in this at all' or 'i need you to edit this, edit that, make it less this/more that...' every.single.time.

DOOD,
WE DON'T HAVE A MASTER'S DEGREE IN PSYCHOLOGY.
AND I DON'T THINK WE CAN BE IN SIX DAYS.

June 14, 2009

Sex On Fire- Kings Of Leon

June 7, 2009

because maturity does not depend on age.

JiaLi has got some sick skills man.
future husband sgt bertuah. AHAK

but before we dived into all the fun of joining and watching the Jeremy's group's dance rehearsal for the mission trip this Friday, we had lunch together with some other good friends. the endless conversation led to a topic that was once rather concerning to me.

basically, i've known JiaLi all my high school life. she is... an incredibly amazing, unique and strong person and it was sad that i only got to know her better in form3 when my clique was not with me. she helped open my perspectives and views to people and life. she was the one who helped change my opinion and the way i look at life today, as compared to the days before. i thank her so much for that.

i got a helpful sharing of her anger and dissatisfaction when she brought up an old story of how someone had once spread rumours that she was a lesbian. the word got quite far and of course, it is a very uncomfortable matter to deal with, having people give you weird stares and asking you stupid 'are you really a lesbian?' questions. no offence to my non-straight friends at all, please. i don't mean this as a hit to you.

well,
to all of you whom i KNOW are still spreading rumours about her,
go.fly.a.bloody.kite.
please.

i decided to share my own story regarding someone saying things about me that i didn't like. i think it was my first attendance in a new church. Friend A told his friend, B about me and back then, Friend A actually had a thing for me so he pointed out to B that i was the girl he was going after.

'oh.. how can you like that kind of girl ah?'
or something like that, basically.

i was apalled, furious and uncomfortable with the response. here is a person who literally didn't even know me but decided to judge me on first base. judge on what, my dressing? my appearance? not that i have a very outstanding appearance anyway. and what kind of girl... am i? seriously.

my confidence died down for a moment in that time. and i stopped attending that church. i remember crying to sleep about it once. because i couldn't believe that i was seen as something unpleasant in other people's eyes. it was disappointing for me because i had let a stranger's opinion influence my behaviour and actions. because i was and still am sometimes, the type of person which absorbs a hit hard and completely. i prayed and asked for wisdom to come upon myself.

thank God because it was a great slap needed in my face.

to harshly remind me of all those times where i had once also, judged people by first impression. these things are the little things in life that i believe, force you to mature. because when you put yourself in someone else's shoes, you see through their eyes and feel with their emotions. then you compare it to your own experience. and you learn from it. you learn to stop doing dumb things, and be wiser in the future.

and see, these two people who made unfriendly remarks and opinions about JiaLi and I are actually much older than we are, in terms of years. and they were both cases that happened a couple of years ago. not just based on both of our experiences, but other similar stories that i have heard has made truly believe that we all forgive but we never forget.

this makes me very thankful once more, that i am surrounded with positive people who do not speak of people's lives negatively and not even influence me in doing any of that. i am deeply saddened for the people i know who have sunk into that ugly bitter place due to unconscious influence from friends. because there is so much more to life than making up stories and unfriendly gossip.

i've been into that bitter place before.
and it was hard to climb out of it.
but hey, i did it.
so i hope you can too.

thank you, loves of my life! :)
and especially you, Sarah Lee. my crazy, five year old Paris Hilton bimbo ;p

BEFORE I START..
gimme time to release my depression first, can?

incredibly, incredibly upset with the fact that i..

  • couldn't celebrate Teacher's Day as it is my last year here in SV
  • couldn't celebrate my mother's birthday
  • couldn't see my good friends before the holidays started
  • couldn't finish my mom's surprise bday card
  • couldn't buy teachers' presents
  • because i lost my wallet containing a hefty load of money
  • vomitted 11 times in a day, six in which were in an hour
  • vomitted all my medication from two different doctors
  • made my mom rush me from clinic(s) to hospital on her birthday
  • made my mom spend a bomb on hospital/med fees
  • trip back from hospital brought back my insane headaches
  • which disabled me from visiting my dad today
  • because its his birthday

*inhales and exhales*

YES
i'm back! :D
still have to rest alot and finish up medication but that should be easy since it's the midyear break

i'm pretty much, literally, a sick girl, aren't i?
being admitted to hospital three times in nine months.. not much fun.
but the stay in the hospital is always funny though.

met some funny nurses *cough*nurse who originated from CBN*cough*, my doctor who wasn't as charming as my previous appendix surgeon, the same male nurse who injected my wrist for drips during my past two visits...

you remember her? she had appendicitis a few months back.
oh. YOU AGAIN AH? whats your problem now?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ironic; the fact that they had to run blood tests because i was a potential dengue victim according to symptoms. but it turns out negative and instead, they find that the enzyme activity in my liver is not optimal. thus, the ultrasound scan the next day.

okay la, trying to make this as least dramatic as possible rofl,
but the doctor discovered that i have fatty liver.

also known as fatty liver disease (FLD), steatorrhoeic hepatosis, or steatosis hepatitis, is a reversible condition where large vacuoles of triglyceride fat accumulate in liver cells. the symptoms are very bland and non-specific but mostly occurs in alcoholics & the obese society. they may, however, have occasional abdominal pain. not intense, not severe, and no pattern. fatty liver can also be genetic.

when i got the news, to be honest.. i was just shocked. my jaw dropped to the squeaky clean floor in the hospital. i believe i lead quite a normal lifestyle for a Malaysian. not excessively healthy, but definitely not unhealthy. i don't eat junk food for any of my main three meals of the day, i don't smoke, i'm not alcoholic rofl excuse my wine moment a few weeks back, i do sports, i rarely sleep very late... and for this case, i have to admit that i am NOT fat, or anywhere near obese. BMI is at a good normal scale...

i was shocked.
the doctor was surprised as well.
i like to believe it is 90% genetic from my father who did have fatty liver, but no one really knows.

what more,
it is not a common disease, esp in teenagers like me, but is slowly becoming common among us Malaysians who have the daily cravings for roti canai, nasi lemak, and char kuay teow. and if no action is done, fatty liver can lead to many other health risks like cirrhosis, heart attacks and high blood pressure in the long period.

so can you imagine if you have fatty liver, and you never knew about it?

i have to be considered lucky that i actually knew that i had it. and it's not at a serious stage... yet. so here comes good and consistent workout plans and more healthy eating. and if I can get fatty liver, are you still sure that you are overall healthy?

please, please.
all my readers.
i don't care how old you are or whether or not you lead a better and healthier lifestyle than i do, i seriously encourage you to one day, get yourself a full body scan because this affects your life.

if you can't afford it,
eat.
pray.
love. :)
